Harry Potter Day We had a fantastic day yesterday celebrating all things Harry Potter! Everyone looked amazing in their costumes and the school really did feel like Hogwarts! Year 1 and 2 had a busy day creating wands and writing spells, making Butterbeer, mixing potions and creating their own fantastic beast. Here are a few photos from the day. Houses for Harry Potter day on Thursday 1st February will be as follows:
Thornhill = Hufflepuff
Portman = Ravenclaw
Chapel = Slytherin
Victoria = Gryfindor
These houses have been sorted at random, by the sorting hat, and will allow children to collect house points and visit every Hogwarts 'class' for the day!
Key Stage 1 will move between the Year 1 and 2 classrooms.
Welcome back. We hope you had a wonderful Christmas break.
This half term our topic is 'Explorers'. We will be finding out all about the first moon landing and different famous explorers.
The English Learning Together session is coming up on the 9th January. It would be great to see as many of you as possible at the event.
In other news, we are pleased to welcome Mrs Berry to Parkside. She will be teaching Beech class each Monday afternoon.
This week we went to Tropical World. We started the day in the woods learning about different animal groups such as mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. After we learnt how to measure a tree and find out how old a tree is!
In the afternoon we headed over to Tropical World to see the animals. We saw lots of animals and finally got to see real meerkats!
Following out trip we will be writing a recount about our day.
This week we were lucky enough to have an African drumming workshop. We worked together to create a short performance for assembly. We had great fun and especially enjoyed 'RUMBLE'.
On Monday 25th we have African Drumming.
We will get the opportunity to listen to some traditional African music then have a go ourselves!
This week is a Learning Launch focused around Growth Mindset.
This week Beech class have been set the following challenges :
Explore Growth Mindset - What does it mean and how can we use it to be good learners?
Learning Pit - How can we use this after each lesson to reflect on our learning?
Design a character to represent a good team worker.
