The governing body has legal duties, powers and responsibilities. It acts as an important link between the school, Education Leeds and the local community. It comprises of three parent governors, two staff governors, the Headteacher and co-opted governors who represent the locality. All governors serve for a period of four years.

Governors are appointed to help the Headteacher lead and manage the school. The main areas of responsibility are standards, curriculum, finance, staff appointments and strategic planning. A full meeting of the governing body is held at least once a term. An annual report is prepared and issued to all parents and staff after which a meeting is held to discuss the contents and the manner in which the governors have discharged their
responsibilities.

Governors not only help to see that their school is right for the community it serves, they also safeguard its independence and look after its interests. The Calverley Parkside governors are a committed group who work closely with the Headteacher and staff to ensure that the school is continually looking for new ways to improve.
