Nursery Prospective Parents


There is a waiting list for children who wish to attend all nursery sessions.  Children’s names can be placed on it by either calling in person, by telephone or requesting an enrolment letter.  Children are admitted the term after they are 3 years old. 

The main intake is in September.  If unexpectedly there are places available later in the year, parents will be contacted regarding places. 

Parents are initially contacted by letter or email between February and Easter enquiring about their session preferences. Although every effort is made to allocate preferred sessions, first choices can not be guaranteed. A confirmation letter will follow after Easter.


We offer provision for 30 hours per week. 





2 ½ Full days – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (am)
2 ½ Full days – Wednesday (pm), Thursday, Friday





We aim to meet the needs of the community we serve. Each year we offer families all four options and deliver according to the responses we receive.
In previous years, the overwhelming majority requested 2.5 day provision and therefore that was what we have delivered.
Each year we will try and respond to the requests of the community. People's circumstances change from when they make their initial preference and so we ask families to confirm their preference in the Jan/Feb before they start.
Whatever the session format, we adapt to meet the needs of the children.






Lunch is between 11:30 and 12:30. If you would like your child to stay for lunch there is a charge of £2.50 for care as this hour is not covered in the free 15 hours entitlement. Children will come over to the main school hall  for lunch and can have either a packed lunch or paid school dinners.

The School Nursery forms the earliest part of the Foundation Stage (FS1). We meet all aspects of the curriculum through well planned play, both indoors and outdoors. This 'purposeful play' reflects our school vision, Challenge, Pleasure,  Success  through  Learning. Play is a key element of the EYFS, therefore whole class and group teaching sessions incorporate an 'active learning' approach where all children have the opportunity to participate.

In 2012 the Department for Education issued the document ‘Development Matters in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)'.  This document contains essential advice and guidance for all practitioners working with children from birth to five. The EYFS curriculum is organised into 7 areas of learning. Including 3 prime and 4 specific areas. The prime areas are fundamental 'core' skills which support the development of the specific areas. The specific areas include the development of essential skills and knowledge.

Each area of learning has a relevant Early Learning Goal. Most children are expected to achieve the Early Learning Goals by the end of the Foundation Stage 2 (end of Reception).
