Summer Half-Term 2

This is what we will be learning about this half term in Year 2. More information about the different subjects can be found in the 'Curriculum' section of the school website.

Reading:

Our main focus text will be 'Fantastic Mr Fox' by Roald Dahl. We will be reading this in our daily reading lessons and using it to develop the children's skills in retrieval, inference, vocabulary, summarising and predicting.

Writing:

During our writing lessons, we will be writing a recount after our school trip to Rodley Nature Reserve. We are focusing on past tense and using co-ordination and sub-ordination in our sentences.

Maths:

This half term, we will be learning about Mass, capacity and temperature. 

Children will choose and use appropriate standard units to estimate and measure length/height in any direction, mass, temperature, capacity using rulers, scales, thermometers and measuring vessels. 

Science:

This half term we will be learning about Plants. The knowledge organiser for this can be found here.

History:

We will be revising our topic 'The Great Fire of London' from Autumn 2. The Knowledge organiser for this can be found here. More detailed information about what we will have been learning about can be found in the History overview. 

Design and Technology:

This half term, the children will be designing and making a money holder. This will include sewing felt together using an appropriate stitch. The money holder must be secure so that money does not fall out and it must fit in a pocket.
