All about Parkside

Calverley Parkside is a Community school with an attached Nursery class. The school is part of the Owlcotes MAT. Boys and girls between the ages of 3 and 11 are accepted. Admissions to Reception are manged by Leeds City Council Admissions. Most admissions are based simply on how far from school the family lives. Children who have siblings already in school, having a 'special need' or have been in the care of the local authority will have priority.

The school is situated in the centre of Calverley, an area on the outskirts of Leeds and close to the border with Bradford. Calverley still retains much of the character of the original village and has a very active community feel. Most of the children attending the school live locally in LS28.

The 52 place teacher-led Nursery admits two groups of 26 children, aged 3 or 4 years, currently offering each child 2.5 days a week. They are in the expert charge of a fully – qualified nursery teacher and an assistant. They learn, through a carefully planned programme of structured play, the early skills of literacy, numeracy and social interaction which stands them in good stead for their future education. Parents are encouraged to have an active involvement in the nursery. To find out more information about the nursery, please use the navigate bar above to visit the nursery area of our website.

All classes in the school normally have a maximum of 30 pupils and are organised into single age classes. Classes are organised into EYFS, KS1 and KS2..

Calverley Parkside operates within the Pudsey Family of Schools in addition to the Noctua Teaching Alliance and looks to work and learn with other schools and colleagues whenever possible. This is most commonly but not always done through sports events.
