This is what we will be learning about this  half term in Year 2. More information about the different subjects can be found in the 'Curriculum' section of the school website.

Reading:

Our main focus this term will be looking at past SATs papers. We will be covering both fiction and non-fiction texts and look at how to answer these papers.

Writing:

During our writing lessons, we will be writing  a short narrative based on the film 'Book of Butterflies'. We will then be writing an information text on Tokyo.

Maths:

This half term, we will be learning about:

Time

Statistics

Time: We will be looking at analogue clocks, telling the time both past and to the hour.

Statistics:  We will look at pictograms and bar models. We will create these as well as decipher information from them.

Science:

We don't have a science unit this term.

Geography:

In Geography we are comparing 2 cities - Leeds and Tokyo. Children will know and understand the different physical and human features of the 2 cities as well as their differing climates and weather patterns and any environmental issues that they face. The knowledge organiser is below.

Art:

This half term, the children will be investigating paint. They will use thick and thin brushes, sponges and their fingers to create patterns. They will also investigate how to lighten and darken colours.

Religious Education:

In RE, we will be looking at  Jesus. We will investigate his teachings and how he lived.
