Welcome back to the Summer 2 term at school. Our theme for this term is 'We're Going on an Adventure'. You can find the knowledge organiser for this term here. 

The aims of this unit of learning are:

• To describe what they see, hear and feel whilst exploring outdoors.

• To identify places where they could/have been on an adventure (place names, setting name such as  a wood, farm, park).

• To demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of characters and events in familiar stories through role play, reciting repeated phrases in stories and by recreating events.

• To identify common plants and animals through first hand experiences, videos, information texts and stories.

• To continue to care for plants and animals over time, observing them grow, talking about their observations over time. 

• To continue to understand the effect of the changing seasons on the natural world around them.

Literacy: 

In your child's literacy learning this term, they will be looking at a range of books to help inspire their ideas and descriptive writing.  The books that they will closely explore in their writing are 'Jack and the Jelly Beans Stalk' and 'The Gingerbread Man'. Your child will continue to focus on composing verbal and written sentences using capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.
